Privacy Policy

MyEasyExpense ("the app", "we") is a personal expense tracker for Android. This policy explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and what leaves your device. The guiding principle is simple: your financial data stays on your device.

Summary

• Your expenses, transaction messages, amounts, and accounts are stored only on your device. We do not have a server that receives them.
• SMS and notification content is read on-device solely to detect transactions and is never transmitted to us or sold.
• We use a third-party crash-reporting service (Sentry) that receives diagnostic crash data only, with sensitive details scrubbed before sending.

Information the app accesses

SMS messages (READ_SMS, RECEIVE_SMS)

With your permission, the app reads bank and payment transaction SMS to automatically detect expenses (amount, merchant, account). This is the app's core feature. SMS content is parsed entirely on your device and is never uploaded to any server or shared with third parties. The app does not send, modify, or delete your SMS and is not a default SMS handler.

Notification access (Notification Listener)

Optionally, you can grant Notification Access so the app can detect expenses from notifications shown by a fixed list of known bank and UPI apps (for example, to capture UPI payments that do not generate an SMS). Notification content is read on-device only, used solely to create expense entries, and is never transmitted or shared. You control this permission in your system settings and can revoke it anytime.

Financial information

Expense records the app creates or that you enter (amounts, categories, merchant, masked account fragments) are stored locally on your device using the device's app storage. This information is not sent to us.

Biometric / device lock (optional)

If you enable app lock, the app uses your device's biometric/PIN authentication to unlock. The app never receives or stores your biometric data; authentication is handled by the operating system.

Data we do receive: crash diagnostics

To keep the app stable, we use Sentry, a third-party crash and error reporting service. When the app encounters an error, Sentry may receive diagnostic information such as the error and stack trace, app version, and device model/OS version. This helps us fix bugs.

Before any crash report is sent, the app scrubs sensitive content — amounts, account numbers, and message text are redacted, and no user identifiers or personal message content are attached. We do not use this data for advertising, and we do not sell it. Sentry processes this data on our behalf; see Sentry's privacy policy at sentry.io/privacy.

What we do NOT do

• We do not upload your SMS, notifications, expenses, or account details to any server.
• We do not sell or rent your data.
• We do not use your data for advertising or tracking across apps.
• We do not require an account or ask for your name, email, or phone number to use the app.

Data retention & deletion

Because your data is stored on your device, it remains until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes the app's locally stored data. Crash diagnostics held by Sentry are retained per Sentry's standard retention (typically up to 90 days) and contain no personal message content.

Children

MyEasyExpense is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected here with a new "Last updated" date.
